Comment and voting on this proposed change will occur at the General Membership Meeting during the NMAG 2024 Fall Institute.

Proposed statement addition to NMAG By-Laws:

Section 6.5
Board members must attend a minimum of 6 board meetings per year (they may be excused from meeting early).  Board members should not miss 2 board meetings in a row without prior notification to the President unless there are extenuating circumstances. This requirement applies only to voting NMAG board members.

Board members should attend the NMAG Fall Institute (Annual Conference) and assist with the conference as needed unless there are extenuating circumstances and the President has been notified prior to the conference date.

The New Mexico Association for the Gifted (NMAG) invites you to register for the 2024 Fall Institute. 

This two-day conference centering on Gifted Education is an excellent resource for teachers, parents, and school administrators.

  • Keynote Speaker Steven Pfeiffer
    • An international authority on the social-emotional world of high-ability children, Professor Emeritus at Florida State University, and former Professor and Director of Duke University’s gifted program, Duke TIP
  • Gifted education updates from NMPED Gifted Specialist Christopher Vian
  • Networking opportunities with Gifted Education teachers and experts
  • Breakout sessions focused on the identification, programming, resources, & social-emotional needs of Gifted students

  • Early Registration Fee: $125 (Registration form submitted by 8/18/24)

Beyond Brilliance: Mapping the Constellations of Giftedness

The New Mexico Association for the Gifted (NMAG) is now accepting proposals for presentations at the 2024 Fall Gifted Education Institute.

Location: The University of New Mexico Continuing Education, 1634 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM

Theme: Beyond Brilliance: Mapping the Constellations of Giftedness

Dates: October 25 – 26, 2024

Proposal submission deadline: August 18, 2024

Presenters will be notified by email on August 26, 2024 and will receive a complimentary 2024 Fall Institute registration.

NMAG looks forward to presentations that draw upon research in identifying gifted learners; curriculum and instruction for public, private and homeschool gifted students; and nurturing the social emotional needs of gifted individuals. NMAG invites you to focus your proposal on this year’s theme; however, that is not required.
